If
you’re wondering where the best steak dinner is located in Walt Disney World
(“WDW”), well I’m here to tell you it’s at the Yachtsman steakhouse in the
Yacht Club Resort. The Yachtsman is one
of my favorite restaurants to eat at when I visit WDW, and for me it’s a
must-do when I go.
The
Yachtsman has the ambiance, charm and décor of an old-world New York steakhouse
with service and food to match. The restaurant is a Signature Dining location
and as such has a resort casual dress code to enhance the dining experience for
all of the guests. The steaks and side
dishes served here rival the best steakhouses in New York, such as Smith &
Wolensky’s, Sparks and the Post House.
As you walk into the restaurant, there is a small glass room where the
beef ages and develops flavor and tenderness.
Sometimes you will even see one of the chefs slicing the steaks. On the way to the seating area, you will pass
the open kitchen where they grill your steak and prepare several of the side
dishes. Be sure to take notice of the
dessert display on your right side just before entering the main dining room,
and save enough room for a treat at the end of your meal!
Now, no steakhouse dinner would be complete without having the vanilla
bean crème brûlée
for dessert. It is made exactly how crème brûlée should
be – warm custard with a hard caramelized sugar coating that you have to crack
with a spoon. It is so good that I won’t
share, and if anyone else’s spoon tries to travel in the direction of my
dessert, they are immediately told they need to get their own! There are many other good desserts on the
menu that I have tasted with my travelling spoon, but for me there is never any
question that I’ll be ordering the crème brûlée.
My
favorite things to eat here are the Caesar salad and the filet mignon. Sometimes I order mashed potatoes, and other
times I order a potato side dish that might be paired with a different steak on
the menu. Yes, they do let you switch
menu items around without a problem, which is a good thing for me since I’m
such a picky eater. In fact, you can do
this at most of the Disney restaurants.
The Yachtsman has very unique bread in the bread basket that
I have never seen anywhere else, and it is out of this world. It looks more like a muffin than bread, but
in reality it is a flaky onion loaf that peels apart in layers. You can pair it with the roasted garlic
provided or the fresh butter with crushed salt on top. Either way, it is delicious.
I’ve
tried other things on the menu from time-to-time and everything that I’ve tried
has been excellent. So if you are in
WDW, and need a beef fix, the Yachtsman is the place to go for a lovely upscale
dinner that hits the spot every time.
