Pirates of the Caribbean is scheduled to be closed for a one day refurbishment on October 9, 2012. There has been a good deal of work going on in the queue over the last few weeks and it is suspected that this one day closure will be used to complete this work.

The official Disney Parks Blog  released some great concept art for Pete's Silly Sideshow in the new Fantasyland. Pete's Silly Sideshow will be located in Storybook Circus, and will be a meet and greet will include Minnie Magnifique, Madame Daisy Fortuna, The Great Goofini, and The Astounding Donaldo.  The queue will be split into two sides, one for Minnie and Daisy, and the other for Goofy and Donald.

Disney has announced the official opening dates for the rest of the Fantasyland expansion. Under the Sea: Journey of The Little Mermaid, Be Our Guest Restaurant, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Ariel’s Grotto, Gaston’s Tavern and Bonjour! Village Gifts, Pete's Silly Sideshow character meet and greet, and Big Top Souvenirs will begin previews on 11/19/2012, with the grand opening set for 12/6/2012.


Princess Fairytale Hall will open in 2013 and the debut of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will be in 2014. 

Walt Disney Imagineering has just completed another organizational reshuffle.

Kathy Magnum, a 30 year plus veteran at WDI who has most recently overseen the Cars Land project at Disneyland Resort, has moved to Florida to become 'Executive Producer, Walt Disney World Portfolio".  In this new role, Kathy becomes the creative producer for Walt Disney World, partnering with Jack Blitch.  In her new role, Kathy will continue to report to WDI Chief Creative Executive, Bruce Vaughn.  She will also work directly with Meg Crofton and her executive team on behalf of Walt Disney Imagineering.


Joe Rhode continues as creative director at Disney's Animal Kingdom, and Eric Jacobson continues with responsibility for the creative side of Magic Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Epcot.

  1. That is really neat about the new meet & greet! I can't wait to see the new costumes. Will Minnie also continue to greet guests at the front of the Park in her regular dress with Mickey? Or will she be in Storybook Circus only? Either way, so exciting!

    1. We do not know for sure yet, but she will more than likely only be in one location full time. Disney tries not to duplicate character locations in the park if at all possible.
