One of my biggest guilty pleasures on a Walt Disney World
vacation is sweets. Everywhere you turn, there are delicious goodies calling
your name, begging to be eaten. Luckily, a Disney vacation involves quite a bit
of walking to balance things out, so you don’t have to feel too guilty
indulging on a few extra treats!
We have a list of favorites that has grown throughout the
years: Dole Whip (naturally), along with cupcakes, krispy treats, funnel cakes,
ice cream… the list seems to get longer as the years go on. I had visited
Goofy’s Candy Company at Downtown Disney many times in the past, but mostly just to browse, or to
grab something prepackaged to bring home (and maybe use up a few extra snack
credits at the end of our stay). I had heard fantastic things about the “Create
Your Own Treat” offered at Goofy's, but as you can
imagine, we never had much room for any more snacks. On our most recent trip, my family finally
found some time (and the appetite) - and I can definitely say we will be doing
it again next time!
Goofy’s Candy Co. is the home to many delectable desserts-
many of which can be used as a snack credit (they are marked, but if you are
unsure- just ask). You can find chocolate covered marshmallows, pretzels,
cookies, apples, and more- all creatively decorated, and likely just as
delicious. One of my favorite novelties is the Turkey Leg shaped krispy treat-
but that was not the goal of this visit. We headed straight to the counter and
grabbed fill in sheets with pencils, and began the difficult task of choosing
what to order. We were told that all but the apple could count for a snack
credit- with one dip, one topping, and one drizzle; I have read that the rules
for including it as a snack credit occasionally change, so it is best to verify
with the Cast Member.
We decided on “Krispy Rice” treats- in the shape of our
favorite mouse, of course. It can be dipped in your choice of white, milk, or
dark chocolate, and then topped by a variety of crushed candies, sprinkles, cookies
or nuts. When I say “topped”, I mean completely covered in a heap of topping,
so that none of the chocolate dip was showing. Last comes another chocolate
drizzle of your choice: milk, white, or chocolate. The cast member prepares it
right in front of you; half the fun is the anticipation of seeing your treat go
from moderate to mammoth in a matter of minutes, and wondering just how you are
going to eat it!
The treats were definitely big enough to share, but who are
we kidding: I was with my teenage siblings and husband, and they each got their
own. I, sadly, passed on getting one as well, as I had had a seasonal
gingerbread cupcake earlier in the evening (which also gets 2 thumbs up)- but I
will not make the same mistake next time!
Whether you are looking for a quick treat to calm your sweet
tooth, want to load up on premade goodies to take home or use your snack
credits on, or have a few minutes to ponder and design your own creation- you’ll
definitely find something at Goofy’s Candy Company. Check it out on your next
