Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter

You can find more pictures of this resort by clicking here . Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter is a fun and exciting resort with a touch of romance.  When you first arrive, you are greeted by a colorfully dressed doorman who opens the wonderful world of the French Quarter.  Here you will find surprises around every corner; all you have to do is look closely.  The lobby is a wide open space with magnificent iron work, a beautiful fountain and a touch of the Mardi Gras theme. When you first arrive at your room, the first thing you may notice is the extra space! With the duel sink area separate from the shower area and a pull curtain for privacy, more than one person can get ready at a time.  Can you find a hidden Mickey in your room? Hint: maybe it is in the corner of the shelves! With approximately 1,000 guest rooms, French Quarter is the smallest of all the moderates. Many people love this resort for its small size: with only seven exterior buildings ho...

Gluten Free Experience at Be Our Guest Restaurant

Dining at Be Our Guest for table service is truly a magical experience.   We chose to celebrate our 14 th wedding anniversary there because Beauty and the Beast is my very favorite Disney movie, and we had not had the chance to dine there yet.   We have always appreciated how Disney has treated our family’s celiac disease, but Be Our Guest really exceeded our expectations!   We arrived about 15 minutes before our reservation, and checked in at the kiosk, making sure to mention our food restrictions again.  Once our name was called, the dining experience began.   They gave us a candelabra to carry down to the door.  The table was set so beautifully!   Just the details in this alone won us over on this restaurant.  We were all reluctant to unfold the rose napkins. It only got better from there.   Normally, when restaurants serve bread, they bring out gluten free rolls that taste like cardboard.   Not at Be Our Guest. ...

What Disney treat are you dreaming of?

Grand Cayman Island Tour

There are so many sights to see at each port on a Disney cruise, it can be difficult to decide which excursion is right for you.  I spent many hours looking at the price and description of each excursion before our 7 Night Western Caribbean Cruise to try to find the right excursions.  If you are looking for an excursion that shows you the sights and sounds of Grand Cayman from the comfort of an air-conditioned bus, the Grand Cayman Island Tour just might be the excursion for you! Governor's House The excursion begins with boarding a tender boat to the dock.  If you have never been to a port that requires tendering, it’s when the ship can’t pull directly up to the dock, so guests must board small boats that provide transportation between the ship and the shore.  After the quick trip to the dock, you are split into groups of approximately 18 people and placed on buses to begin the tour of the island.  As we made our drive around the island, our driver poin...

Experience the World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios

After living in Florida for three years, we finally had the chance to visit Universal Studios this past February.    While we were excited about all the rides and events, the main thing we wanted to see was The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.   Everyone except the little one has read the books and watched the movies multiple times, and we were all eager to experience the magic for ourselves.   We were absolutely blown away! The village was perfect.   From the minute we arrived, we felt like we were transported from a Florida theme park to a little old English village.   The sights and sounds were amazing! The Hogwarts Express train was beautiful!   Universal is actually working on expanding the Wizarding World, and putting in a working Hogwarts express that travels back and forth between Universal’s two parks.   In order to ride it, guests will have to have a park to park ticket, but it promises to be an incredible journey. ...
