Agent Marla's Top 10 Favorite Restaurants at Walt Disney World

We’ve been heading to Walt Disney World as a family since my daughter was 3 months old, and she is now 12, so we’ve had plenty of opportunities to try new restaurants, but we always seem to go back to the same ones.  So, I now try to add at least one new restaurant on each trip and we’ve managed to find some new favorites over the years.  Disney is the perfect place to try new foods and new experiences!  With each discovery of a new restaurant, we make new memories.  Not only do I love these ten restaurants for their food, but for the memories we made there!

10. Coral Reef Restaurant - Future World in Epcot

The first time we ate here was for lunch on our honeymoon, and got to sit right next to the aquarium glass.  We loved looking at all the fish while we ate, and even got to see divers.  The next time we ate there we had a 4 year old and a 3 month old with us.  We got to see Mickey Mouse in scuba gear diving in the tank!  The fish is so fresh that you hope it wasn’t one you just saw swimming around!  My son tried the Mahi-Mahi with coconut sauce and was "hooked!" Now it’s on his list of “demands” every time we go.  Watching the fish is very soothing; add a delicious dinner to that, and you have the perfect restaurant!

9. Rose & Crown Pub - United Kingdom Pavilion in Epcot

We love the Fish and Chips at Rose & Crown
I took my parents here on their first trip to Disney World it brings back memories of living in England as a child.  I love the atmosphere here.  The fish and chips are excellent too, especially with a bit of malt vinegar sprinkled on them.  I always try for a 7:45 p.m. seating time so we have seats to watch IllumiNations.  We’ve been lucky enough plenty of times to have an outside table for our viewing pleasure.  If you’re sitting inside, there is a VIP area for guests to leave their tables and go watch outside.

Family style meals at the Liberty Tree Tavern

8. Liberty Tree Tavern - Magic Kingdom

This is a must do for us.  I love the family style meals and the feeling of being at Thanksgiving with the family.  The food is plentiful and delicious!  They have awesome turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing.  And of course the hot apple dessert with ice cream.  It’s hard to save room for that but we just wear comfy clothes and stuff it all in!  I love that you can reorder platters of food, so everyone gets enough.

7. Biergarten - Germany Pavilion in Epcot's World Showcase

The first time we tried this restaurant we were 2 young adults on our honeymoon.  We didn’t realize we would be sitting with other guests at a long table for 8 and we were too shy to strike up a conversation with our table mates. We recently went back, now older and less timid, and with children.  And it was fun!!  Good company, everyone chatted with each other, and the entertainment was fun and lively.  The buffet style food was awesome too!!  Definitely a buffet to go back to over and over.  I know I don’t need to mention the beer to wash the food down with!  We’ve now added this to our must-do list and hope next time we get sociable table guests again.

6. Tusker House Restaurant - Disney's Animal Kingdom

This is an excellent way to get into Animal Kingdom early, but make sure not to over stuff yourself before heading to the Kilimanjaro Safari.  The buffet offers different types of food as well as traditional breakfast foods, and it’s totally worth it for the juice!  I could sit there and eat dessert for breakfast as long as it’s swimming in the hot custard you can spoon on.  The classic characters appear here for breakfast, dressed in their safari gear.  It’s a wonderful way to start your day at Animal Kingdom, and a great way to sample some new dishes.  (Save room for the custard!)

5. 50’s Prime Time Café - Disney's Hollywood Studios

You can't beat the fried chicken!
Looking for some good comfort food while on vacation?  This place has been a favorite since we first went.  Not only is the food really good, and the to-die-for milkshakes, but if you get a good server, it can be a tremendously fun meal.  I find it’s a great place to take quiet family members since those are the ones that often get picked on.  The pot roast is awesome!  The meat falls apart as you cut it, and the fried chicken can’t be beat! Did I mention the milkshakes?  If you’re lucky, you might get seated at a table with a TV, and you can watch old black and white clips from way back!

4. Beaches and Cream Soda Shop - Disney's Beach Club Resort

Ice cream and burgers!  Need I say more?  This is the home of the famous "Kitchen Sink Sundae"– tons of ice cream and toppings served in a sink to share….you may want to consider dessert for dinner here.  If you decide to go smaller, I highly recommend the burgers.  I love being able to do take out and sit by the pool, or even take it back to the room.  The restaurant is bright and cheery, and we can always find room for dessert here!

3. Chef Mickey’s - Disney's Contemporary Resort

Mickey waffles are a must!
A must-do restaurant with small kids and big kids alike!  Where else can you eat and watch the Monorail roll above your heads?  Our first family meal here was when my daughter was 3 months old and I have a picture of Minnie holding her in her arms.  Food is plentiful here; you walk in hungry and roll yourself out.  It’s your typical breakfast buffet fare, with Mickey waffles of course.  We usually save this restaurant for our last day before we head home.  It’s our way of saying goodbye to Disney World and spending a little more time with the characters.

2. ‘Ohana - Disney's Polynesian Village Resort

The POG juice at breakfast is wonderful
This one is new for us but on our must-do-again list.  We’ve eaten breakfast here and loved it, and ate dinner and loved it even more.  The non-stop food brought over to your table is delicious and served family style.  It’s all-you-can eat so wear stretchy pants and come with an appetite.  I love that it’s on the Monorail route so that you can spend the day at the Magic Kingdom and then take the Monorail over to ‘Ohana.  If you eat early enough and the Magic Kingdom is open late enough, you can go back again!

1. Cape May Café - Disney's Beach Club Resort

We’ve been eating here for years – both breakfast and dinner.  When we stay at the Beach Club, this is either our first meal or our last meal of the trip.  Both buffets are excellent, and we love the shrimp and crab legs for dinner.  For breakfast it’s nice to see the classic characters and fill up on your typical breakfast foods, including the yummy Mickey waffles!  The kids still like to write on the paper tablecloths.  It’s become a wonderful tradition to say goodbye to Disney World and the characters on our last morning.

There are many more restaurants that we enjoy eating at, but these are the ones with the BEST memories for us, and the ones we  always go back to.  Now, we try to add one new place each time we go. We never know when we’ll find a new favorite!

Have a magical day!

Cruising with a Baby: A Complete Guide

You took a baby on a cruise!? Yep, and I'd do it again knowing what I know now. So, say goodbye to months of research - Everything you need to know is here!! One of the biggest challenges of traveling with a baby is planning what you need to bring. I wanted to share what worked for us, and hopefully help others who are planning their cruise! Remember, babies can only cruise after their 6-month birthday on sailings from the U.S. If you are going transatlantic, or have more than three days out at sea, they must be 12 months old by the first day of your cruise. Pre-Cruise   We flew to the cruise port, and I couldn’t bring all the food and snacks I needed, so I placed an Instacart order for pick up near the port. I chose Publix in Cocoa Beach which is a few miles from Port Canaveral. I placed the order a few days before we left home, and set the pickup time to 11:00 a.m. I ordered formula, a box of diapers, swim diapers, bottle brush, dish soap, baby food, and baby snacks. I also broug

Complete Guide to Disney's Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point

Disney's new Bahamian island destination, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is a pristine, secluded paradise reserved exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests. The cruise port is located on the island of Eleuthera (pronounced uh-loo-tr-uh) at it's southern tip, amidst a nature preserve called Lighthouse Point. Far from any towns, Lookout Cay feels like a tropical oasis that is separated from the outside world by mangrove forests. The landscaping is gorgeous with flowers like plumerias, and tall swaying palm trees. Whether you want to just kick back and relax or go for a thrilling banana boat ride, this port has something for everyone. There are family friendly areas as well as those reserved specifically for adults. Expert Tip: If you want a view of the island from your stateroom, be sure to book a starboard (right) side stateroom. Disney Magic docked at Lookout Cay After disembarking your Disney Cruise ship, you'll cross the pier to the island on foot. (It looks longer in

The Villas at the Disneyland Hotel Review

I love staying at the Disneyland Hotel so when I got the opportunity to stay at the new Villas at the Disneyland Hotel during opening weekend, I couldn’t pass it up. Because it was opening weekend, we were greeted in the entrance way of the lobby with balloons and many photo opportunities. When we arrived, there was a mural of the Haunted Mansion. I love how the seats in the main lobby were designed like the teacups in the parks. You can check in using the Disneyland app, drop your bags with bell services and head into the parks or use the amenities why you wait until your room is ready. When your room is ready, the resort will send you a text and you can use the Disneyland app on your mobile device to unlock the room. We dropped off our bags and went straight to the parks. We received a text around 1PM that our room was ready. In the new Discovery Tower (the Villas), you'll find that the lobby is very spacious with many places to sit while you read or wait for your family. Th
