Resort 101: Everything You Need to Know About Disney's All-Star Music Resort

As you may know, Disney's All-Star Music Resort is a value resort located on Walt Disney World property in the Animal Kingdom Resort area. There are 5 uniquely themed sections at this resort, all designed after different musical genres. There are 3 room categories: Preferred Rooms, Standard Rooms, and Family Suites.

Get tropical in the Calypso section!

The Calypso Buildings are considered Preferred Rooms, and are closest to the Calypso pool area, bus stops, and Intermission Food Court. You can spot these buildings by the large maracas and flute pans decorating the walkways. There are standard rooms and family suites located in this building.

Feel the beat at the Jazz Inn!
The Jazz Buildings are also considered Preferred, but are the second closest to bus stops, Calypso pool and Intermission Food Court. These buildings are decorated with larger-than-life saxophones, trumpets and drums. There are standard rooms and family suites located in this building.

The Country Fair Buildings are considered standard in location because they are furthest from the bus stops, Calypso pool and Intermission Food Court. They are located on the far side of the Grand Piano pool. It is about a 5 minute leisurely walk to the main area. These buildings are decorated with giant cowboy items including western bolo ties.

Broadway Hotel is also considered a standard building located near the middle of the resort property. It is close to the Grand Piano pool. In this area you are transported to Broadway. These buildings are decorated with top hats, stage doors, and Broadway signs.

The Rock Inn is the last standard building, also located in the middle of the resort property. It is close to the Grand Piano pool as well. These buildings are decorated with speakers, guitars and juke boxes.

The standard room with 2 double beds
All rooms will sleep 4 people plus one child 2 or under. You have the option of 2 double beds or 1 king bed in your room. There are also wheelchair accessible rooms available. These rooms have a roll-in shower instead of the standard tub and shower. Connecting rooms are available by request. Each room has a small refrigerator, flat screen TV, dresser, safe and small closet. The sink area is separate from the tub and toilet area, providing extra opportunity for more than one person to get ready at a time. There is also a pull out clothesline located in the tub area.

One thing that makes Disney's All-Star Music Resort unique from the other All-Star Resorts is the availability of Family Suites. These Family Suites sleep up to 6 people plus a child 2 or under. There is a queen bed, pull-out sleeper sofa, pull-out sleeper chair, kitchenette, microwave, small fridge and 2 full bathrooms. A pack 'n' play or crib is available for babies and toddlers upon request.

There are two heated pools for swimming; the Calypso Pool, located just outside of the Intermission Food Court, and the Piano Pool. This Calypso Pool is shaped like a guitar, with The Three Caballeros playfully shooting water at nearby swimmers. The Piano Pool is located in the middle of the property near the Broadway Hotel and is shaped like a grand piano. This pool is often a little quieter. Towels are not provided at either pool so make sure to take your room towels with you and ask at the room service for extra towels.

Laundry facilities are also available near the pools. Disney is in the process of transferring the coin operated machines into credit operated only. There may still be one machine that takes coins, otherwise make sure to bring your credit card with you.

Swimming is not the only recreational activity available! Guests can walk or run on the jogging path, climb and play on the playground located near the Jazz buildings, play games at Note’able Games arcade, watch a movie under the stars near the Calypso Pool, or go shopping at the Maestro Mickey’s Gift Shop.

Get competitive at the Note-able Games Arcade!
When you have worked up an appetite, head on over to the Intermission Food Court where there is a variety of food choices available. You can purchase bakery items, pizza, pasta and grocery items. There is a grill and specialty food choices as well. You can even order a pizza and have it delivered to your room. Disney has incorporated musical decor here as well. The napkin holders, straw holders, drink stations, and more are all designed with music in mind. See how many you can find!

All-Star Music Resort also provides many options to make your vacation as relaxing and seamless as possible. Sixty days before you even leave for your trip you can go online and check into your hotel. If you fly into Orlando International Airport you can take Disney’s Magical Express to your hotel. Your luggage will follow within a few hours of your arrival.

If you drive your own car there is complimentary parking for resort guests. Disney provides bus transportation from your resort to the theme parks. The bus stop is located outside the main building near the Maestro Mickey Gift Shop. When you exit the building on your right, there will be a digital clock with the expected arrival times of the different buses.

All resort rooms have complimentary Wi-Fi available.

If you go shopping at a park or Disney Springs, and you have more than 24 hours before check-out, make sure to ask about having your packages delivered right to your resort.

Cruising with a Baby: A Complete Guide

You took a baby on a cruise!? Yep, and I'd do it again knowing what I know now. So, say goodbye to months of research - Everything you need to know is here!! One of the biggest challenges of traveling with a baby is planning what you need to bring. I wanted to share what worked for us, and hopefully help others who are planning their cruise! Remember, babies can only cruise after their 6-month birthday on sailings from the U.S. If you are going transatlantic, or have more than three days out at sea, they must be 12 months old by the first day of your cruise. Pre-Cruise   We flew to the cruise port, and I couldn’t bring all the food and snacks I needed, so I placed an Instacart order for pick up near the port. I chose Publix in Cocoa Beach which is a few miles from Port Canaveral. I placed the order a few days before we left home, and set the pickup time to 11:00 a.m. I ordered formula, a box of diapers, swim diapers, bottle brush, dish soap, baby food, and baby snacks. I also broug

Complete Guide to Disney's Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point

Disney's new Bahamian island destination, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is a pristine, secluded paradise reserved exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests. The cruise port is located on the island of Eleuthera (pronounced uh-loo-tr-uh) at it's southern tip, amidst a nature preserve called Lighthouse Point. Far from any towns, Lookout Cay feels like a tropical oasis that is separated from the outside world by mangrove forests. The landscaping is gorgeous with flowers like plumerias, and tall swaying palm trees. Whether you want to just kick back and relax or go for a thrilling banana boat ride, this port has something for everyone. There are family friendly areas as well as those reserved specifically for adults. Expert Tip: If you want a view of the island from your stateroom, be sure to book a starboard (right) side stateroom. Disney Magic docked at Lookout Cay After disembarking your Disney Cruise ship, you'll cross the pier to the island on foot. (It looks longer in

The Villas at the Disneyland Hotel Review

I love staying at the Disneyland Hotel so when I got the opportunity to stay at the new Villas at the Disneyland Hotel during opening weekend, I couldn’t pass it up. Because it was opening weekend, we were greeted in the entrance way of the lobby with balloons and many photo opportunities. When we arrived, there was a mural of the Haunted Mansion. I love how the seats in the main lobby were designed like the teacups in the parks. You can check in using the Disneyland app, drop your bags with bell services and head into the parks or use the amenities why you wait until your room is ready. When your room is ready, the resort will send you a text and you can use the Disneyland app on your mobile device to unlock the room. We dropped off our bags and went straight to the parks. We received a text around 1PM that our room was ready. In the new Discovery Tower (the Villas), you'll find that the lobby is very spacious with many places to sit while you read or wait for your family. Th
