Red Oven Pizza Bakery - Universal CityWalk

Are you looking for a quick lunch or dinner with a fabulous homemade taste? Then you need to try Red Oven Pizza Bakery located in Universal CityWalk at Universal Orlando.  In the words of my teenage daughter the pizza “IS AMAZING!”

With the convenient carry out window you can take your pizza to go or you can choose to eat in the outside dining area. You can sit anywhere and they will bring out your fresh made pizza or salad. While the seating is outside, there is a covered roof with ceiling fans to provide shade and a small breeze. Perfect for those sunny summer days.
A variety of Red and White pizzas are offered.  (For those who don't know, Red pizza has marinara sauce and White pizza has no sauce but may have a layer of olive oil and seasonings.) There are 3 different salads available including a Classic Caesar, Arugula, and Caprese salad. The salads are large; approximately a 12-inch plate covered 4 or 5 inches high. We did not actually order a salad but the table next to us did and it was big enough to share.  Your drink options include soda, carbonated juice, ice teas, water, beer and wine. The carbonated juices are very refreshing and the fountain drinks are refillable (all options are subject to change).

Red Oven Pizza Bakery opens at 10:30 am and closes between 12 am to 1:30 am depending on the day (hours subject to change). We ate  lunch on more than one occasion and waited about 10 minutes to receive our hot, fresh cooked pizza.  When we thought about going around 9 pm the place was filled and the line was out the door.

Every pizza is made fresh when you order it. The quality of ingredients are what make these pizzas so wonderful. Filtered Water, Organic Olive Oil, San Mazzone Tomatoes, “00” flour and Buffalo Mozzarella. The Buffalo Mozzarella cheese adds a wonderful flavor and is creamy and stringy just like the mozzarella we are used to eating. The “00” flour means the texture of the flour is extremely fine, this gives the pizza a wonderful crunch with little elasticity. The pizza is cooked in a 900 degree stone lined oven so it does not have the char on the bottom but it comes out a beautiful golden brown. All pizzas are served the same size, 12 inches and 6 slices. You can watch them make your pizza in the open kitchen.

We tried the Big Eye Pepperoni pizza which has large sandwich size pepperoni that cover the entire pizza and the Margherita pizza had so many chunks of San Mazzone tomatoes you got one in each bite; with the tangy taste of the basil it was fantastic!

In my opinion, this is the best place in CityWalk to get a pizza. What's your favorite place to get a slice?

Cruising with a Baby: A Complete Guide

You took a baby on a cruise!? Yep, and I'd do it again knowing what I know now. So, say goodbye to months of research - Everything you need to know is here!! One of the biggest challenges of traveling with a baby is planning what you need to bring. I wanted to share what worked for us, and hopefully help others who are planning their cruise! Remember, babies can only cruise after their 6-month birthday on sailings from the U.S. If you are going transatlantic, or have more than three days out at sea, they must be 12 months old by the first day of your cruise. Pre-Cruise   We flew to the cruise port, and I couldn’t bring all the food and snacks I needed, so I placed an Instacart order for pick up near the port. I chose Publix in Cocoa Beach which is a few miles from Port Canaveral. I placed the order a few days before we left home, and set the pickup time to 11:00 a.m. I ordered formula, a box of diapers, swim diapers, bottle brush, dish soap, baby food, and baby snacks. I also broug...
