The Cowfish: Burgers, Sushi & Burgushi

The Cowfish at Universal's CityWalk is a unique restaurant serving a combination of burgers and sushi which gives everyone in the family something to be happy about.  It is centrally located in CityWalk above Vivo Italian Kitchen with indoor seating. a beautiful patio seating area overlooking CityWalk below and has a modern eclectic vibe once inside.

We chose to sit inside and started with some cocktails for the adults and appetizers for all to appease our hungry bellies.  The cocktails were top notch and the appetizers got us even more excited for the meal ahead as they were so delicious!  What was extra great about this place for us, is that it made sushi and seafood approachable for the kids so they were willing to try things they maybe wouldn't have otherwise so it was great to see them venture out of their comfort zone a bit!
Buffalos and Bacon: Buffalo Trace bourbon, cherry liqueur, angostura and orange bitters, honey, candied bacon
Angel's Envy Manhattan
Blackened Tuna Nachos
Parmesan Bacon Truffle Fries
For the entrees our family was pretty split on burgers/sandwiches and sushi, with one of us even going for the famous "burgushi" which combines the best of both worlds.  The burger selection here is excellent, with lots of variety to choose from and something for everyone (including a chicken sandwich for your non-beef eaters) and the sushi ranges from basic to very creative (including a vegetarian sushi!) so it was hard for us to decide with so many great options to choose from, but our server was a huge help in narrowing things down with us.
The Dynamic Duo: Beef burger, braised short rib, sweet roasted garlic, provolone cheese, tomato onion jam, lettuce, onion, tomato, onion roll
Tuna Roll
Doug's Filet Roll: Avocado, kani, cream cheese inside, topped with thin slices of seared filet mignon, spicy mayo, scallions, masago. Served with a side of pounded ginger sauce
The Jalapeño Popper Show-Stopper: Beef burger, jalapeño-infused cream cheese, jalapeño bacon, fried jalapeños, jalapeño citrus aioli, lettuce, tomato, fresh sliced jalapeños, brioche bun
Chicken Bacon Avocado: Grilled all natural chicken, applewood bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, wasabi mayo, brioche bun
Tropical Storm Roll: Kani, avocado and cucumber inside, topped with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, Japanese mayo, sweet eel sauce, sriracha and tobiko. Served with wasabi yuzu dipping sauce
PB&J Sushi Roll
Everyone was super happy with their food choices, even the PB&J sushi roll was a hit!  Everything was fresh, cooked well, and super tasty.  Everyone enjoyed venturing slightly out of their comfort zone and trying new things and it ended up being a favorite meal of the trip for the family.

Cruising with a Baby: A Complete Guide

You took a baby on a cruise!? Yep, and I'd do it again knowing what I know now. So, say goodbye to months of research - Everything you need to know is here!! One of the biggest challenges of traveling with a baby is planning what you need to bring. I wanted to share what worked for us, and hopefully help others who are planning their cruise! Remember, babies can only cruise after their 6-month birthday on sailings from the U.S. If you are going transatlantic, or have more than three days out at sea, they must be 12 months old by the first day of your cruise. Pre-Cruise   We flew to the cruise port, and I couldn’t bring all the food and snacks I needed, so I placed an Instacart order for pick up near the port. I chose Publix in Cocoa Beach which is a few miles from Port Canaveral. I placed the order a few days before we left home, and set the pickup time to 11:00 a.m. I ordered formula, a box of diapers, swim diapers, bottle brush, dish soap, baby food, and baby snacks. I also broug...

The Villas at the Disneyland Hotel Review

I love staying at the Disneyland Hotel so when I got the opportunity to stay at the new Villas at the Disneyland Hotel during opening weekend, I couldn’t pass it up. Because it was opening weekend, we were greeted in the entrance way of the lobby with balloons and many photo opportunities. When we arrived, there was a mural of the Haunted Mansion. I love how the seats in the main lobby were designed like the teacups in the parks. You can check in using the Disneyland app, drop your bags with bell services and head into the parks or use the amenities why you wait until your room is ready. When your room is ready, the resort will send you a text and you can use the Disneyland app on your mobile device to unlock the room. We dropped off our bags and went straight to the parks. We received a text around 1PM that our room was ready. In the new Discovery Tower (the Villas), you'll find that the lobby is very spacious with many places to sit while you read or wait for your family. Th...

Universal's Volcano Bay Private Cabana Review

On a recent training in Universal Orlando Resort, the agents rented a private cabana for the day at Universal's Volcano Bay. There are multiple locations around the park along with the option to have an upper or lower level, all of which reflect in various pricing. We received an email the day before informing her of where to check-in the next morning. While we were personally escorted to the cabana shortly after check in, the line at the check in location is the same as those getting towels, meaning it was not short. As expressed by an additional guest checking into a different cabana, we would have greatly appreciated a separate line, since this caused our group about a half hour wait. We're all adults and made great use of our time getting some fun pictures before the park was filled with guests, but this is important to be aware of if you are traveling with children.  We had an upper level Cabana which came with a splendid view! We arrived to a welcome basket of various fr...
