Local Vendors We Recommend in Orlando

The hottest trend in the ultimate Disney vacation is utilizing local vendors who are/or used to be Disney Cast Members to enhance your trip.  There are a wide variety of services and products you can get from these wonderful people, so we wanted to highlight a few of our favorites that we have personally utilized and would recommend.

Charcuterie:

Ordering a charcuterie board for your family or party is a great way to enhance an arrival day when you might be a bit snacky or maybe for a pool day at the resort.  It's the perfect snack to munch on throughout the day and makes you feel just a little bit fancy.

Journey Across the Board

This is the charcuterie you order to feel bougie and pampered and really elevate your trip.  Their boards are premium and they can be designed and personalized in so many ways. You can even upgrade to include beautiful keepsakes.  What makes them especially great is the ability to suit so many dietary concerns.  They create any food style or allergy from unique plant-based artisanal boards, dairy-free/gluten-free boards and of course you can order a traditional carnivorous like I did. I ordered one for my bridal party while we were getting ready for our Disney Fairytale Wedding and everyone was in awe! The quality was definitely easy to taste as you went on a journey through the flavors and textures of the board with your tastebuds.

Magical Charcuterie is your more casual, but still bougie because it's charcuterie, option.  We ordered this to have handy for a resort day so we'd have goodies to munch on and were so happy with our choice! Everything was fresh and delicious and I loved the Mickey shaped cheese!

Sweet Treats:

Anyone else just too full at the end of a meal to order dessert, but still want to have a little extra sugar on vacation?  There are a slew of amazing bakers and confectioners available to suit every need.  These are also a great way to celebrate a special occasion with many custom options available!

I don't know that I've ever seen more beautiful chocolate than these delightful confections.  While Star Wars themed treats are what they are most known for, we were able to customize a box to treat ourselves for surviving Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort. The company offers seasonal themes to go with many occasions.  The chocolate is delicious and plentiful!

Ash's Bakeshop

Cookies are just about one of my favorite things and I'd been dying to try these huge versions from Ash's Bakeshop for quite some time.  We finally caved for our holiday trip and got the seasonal offerings plus some classic chocolate chip.  These cookies are HUGE, they absolutely rival Gideon's but get delivered right to you without waiting in line :) We nibbled on these for five days and still couldn't finish them all before our trip wrapped up.

I didn't really know what a "cakesicle" was before joining the Ear for Each Other group, and I kept seeing these beautiful creations and knew I wanted to give them a try.  We were visiting the first week of November so I floated a "Nightmare Before Christmas" theme since it was just after Halloween and not quite Christmas yet.  They knocked it out of the park!  These are light and just the right size for a post dinner treat.

Catering:

Trying to get breakfast at the parks or resort can take away prime ride time so we love to order some breakfasts for the room that we can eat while we get ready.  Additionally, many of the most popular Disney restaurants are hard to snag reservations for, so catering to your resort room might be the perfect option to satisfy your needs.

Celia, owner of Cooking with Character, is an absolute delight to work with.  I've ordered from her multiple times and every time she's been able to meet my needs and customize things to work with dietary restrictions in my parties.  The "sticky Mickeys" are adorable and the perfect Disney-way to start your day.  We also had her cater breakfast casseroles which were perfectly cooked and came with tater tots and a very impressive fruit platter.  (She also made a variety of sandwiches that went above and beyond!)  But what draws a lot of people in to order from Cooking with Character, is they will cater an O'hana inspired feast to your resort room.  We tried this option and the food was PLENTIFUL and so delicious!  Our family was so impressed that we thought to do this so we could have all the enjoyment with none of the stress.  Leftovers were enjoyed for days.

Fruit Platter
Breakfast Casseroles and Tater Tots
Tasty Sandwiches
Just a few of the delights from our O'hana inspired feast.  Veggie Lo Mein, Dumplings, Fried Rice and Chicken and Beef Skewers.  There was also sweet bread and bread pudding with fruit and chocolate sauce for dessert! YUM!

Cruising with a Baby: A Complete Guide

You took a baby on a cruise!? Yep, and I'd do it again knowing what I know now. So, say goodbye to months of research - Everything you need to know is here!! One of the biggest challenges of traveling with a baby is planning what you need to bring. I wanted to share what worked for us, and hopefully help others who are planning their cruise! Remember, babies can only cruise after their 6-month birthday on sailings from the U.S. If you are going transatlantic, or have more than three days out at sea, they must be 12 months old by the first day of your cruise. Pre-Cruise   We flew to the cruise port, and I couldn’t bring all the food and snacks I needed, so I placed an Instacart order for pick up near the port. I chose Publix in Cocoa Beach which is a few miles from Port Canaveral. I placed the order a few days before we left home, and set the pickup time to 11:00 a.m. I ordered formula, a box of diapers, swim diapers, bottle brush, dish soap, baby food, and baby snacks. I also broug

Complete Guide to Disney's Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point

Disney's new Bahamian island destination, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is a pristine, secluded paradise reserved exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests. The cruise port is located on the island of Eleuthera (pronounced uh-loo-tr-uh) at it's southern tip, amidst a nature preserve called Lighthouse Point. Far from any towns, Lookout Cay feels like a tropical oasis that is separated from the outside world by mangrove forests. The landscaping is gorgeous with flowers like plumerias, and tall swaying palm trees. Whether you want to just kick back and relax or go for a thrilling banana boat ride, this port has something for everyone. There are family friendly areas as well as those reserved specifically for adults. Expert Tip: If you want a view of the island from your stateroom, be sure to book a starboard (right) side stateroom. Disney Magic docked at Lookout Cay After disembarking your Disney Cruise ship, you'll cross the pier to the island on foot. (It looks longer in

The Villas at the Disneyland Hotel Review

I love staying at the Disneyland Hotel so when I got the opportunity to stay at the new Villas at the Disneyland Hotel during opening weekend, I couldn’t pass it up. Because it was opening weekend, we were greeted in the entrance way of the lobby with balloons and many photo opportunities. When we arrived, there was a mural of the Haunted Mansion. I love how the seats in the main lobby were designed like the teacups in the parks. You can check in using the Disneyland app, drop your bags with bell services and head into the parks or use the amenities why you wait until your room is ready. When your room is ready, the resort will send you a text and you can use the Disneyland app on your mobile device to unlock the room. We dropped off our bags and went straight to the parks. We received a text around 1PM that our room was ready. In the new Discovery Tower (the Villas), you'll find that the lobby is very spacious with many places to sit while you read or wait for your family. Th
