Be Our Guest Restaurant Review

Be Our Guest Restaurant, inspired by Disney's Beauty and the Beast, quickly became one of the most popular restaurants in Magic Kingdom after it opened in 2012.  It has changed a few times since then, and is now a Signature Dining, 3-course prix fixe menu for lunch and dinner (no longer serving breakfast).  The Beast hosts this meal since it is his castle, but it is not a character dining meal and you won't be able to get photos or autographs with the host. Since it's one of our most asked about dining experiences, we wanted to give it a nice thorough review for you!

Be Our Guest is located in New Fantasyland and is quite a beautiful establishment with Beast's Castle up in the distance.  As a table service restaurant that is always busy, advanced dining reservations are highly recommended.  Although if you are willing to eat at off times, we have seen walk up availability available around 4-5pm sometimes! I love the carvings around the door and all the details throughout the dining rooms, of which there are three.  There is the West Wing, the Ballroom, and the Rose Room - each themed to different aspects of the movie.  You can request a location, but it is not guaranteed and may add to your wait time.  For example, we were sat in the West Wing and told the ballroom would be at least an additional 45 minutes, and we had already waited about 15 minutes past our reservation.

Our host who brought us to our table was so friendly and really added to the atmosphere, and our server was just lovely as well.  Our server was clearly busy with quite a few tables, but always made sure to stop by and check on us throughout the meal (which took about two hours for our party of six.)

When Be Our Guest opened it changed the dining landscape for Magic Kingdom by making alcohol available at table service restaurants in the park.  As a French-inspired restaurant, it was important to serve wine with the meal for the full experience.  Wine, beer and cocktails are available as well as soft drinks and signature non-alcoholic beverages served in souvenir cups.  If you don't want the cup, you can also get the drinks by the glass for a lower cost, just ask your server.

After our drink orders were taken, bread and butter was brought out to start the meal. This was honestly a sour start.  The bread was very dry and bland, and the butter was cold and hard.  We felt the bread felt day-old at best, and when asking about it, we learned that all of the bread served here is vegan to be inclusive. I have several vegan friends and know that vegan bread can taste far superior to this, so I don't believe that was a valid reason for such poor bread.  I wouldn't recommend wasting valuable calories or stomach space on this, and our whole party of 6 agreed that this was disappointing.
Bread and Butter
As a prix fix meal, everyone got an appetizer.  There were several to choose from but the potato and leek soup and the salad were the most popular at our table. The escargot and French onion soup were overwhelmingly salty and not enjoyed (and dipping the bread in the soups did not save it).

Potato-Leek Soup: Truffle Potato Chips and Leek Fondue
After our appetizers we enjoyed a variety of entrees.  The filet was the most popular choice and we tried the pork chop as well. We did have vegetarian in our party which was a very different perspective on the entrée selection. There was one plant-based choice, and it didn't really offer a protein, which was disappointing.  As a prix fixe meal, there really wasn't an alternative choice or a lot of value offered here for a vegetarian or plant based eater.

Vadouvan-spiced Vegetables: Crispy Corn Cake with Vadouvan-Coconut Jus (Plant-based Offering)
Center-cut Filet Mignon with Yukon Gold Potato Puree and Smoked Tomato Béarnaise Sauce
The filet was the clear winner here, with the smoked tomato béarnaise sauce being the star of the show. The pork chop was again, overwhelmingly salty to the point where it was inedible. However, the sweet potatoes served with the pork were delightful!

When it came to dessert, we once again were disappointed with the plant-based offering, as it was lacking flavor. Everyone else received a pre-set dessert trio which was quite tasty, but to us didn't live up to a signature dining experience, they just felt mass-produced and lacked that special quality.

Lemon Jam Macaron, Chocolate Tart with Grey Stuff and Dark Chocolate Truffle
After your meal, be sure to explore all the details of the restaurant on your way out! The Beast came around a few times throughout our meal, but you'll see it was hard to snag a good photo from our spot in the West Wing.

Cruising with a Baby: A Complete Guide

You took a baby on a cruise!? Yep, and I'd do it again knowing what I know now. So, say goodbye to months of research - Everything you need to know is here!! One of the biggest challenges of traveling with a baby is planning what you need to bring. I wanted to share what worked for us, and hopefully help others who are planning their cruise! Remember, babies can only cruise after their 6-month birthday on sailings from the U.S. If you are going transatlantic, or have more than three days out at sea, they must be 12 months old by the first day of your cruise. Pre-Cruise   We flew to the cruise port, and I couldn’t bring all the food and snacks I needed, so I placed an Instacart order for pick up near the port. I chose Publix in Cocoa Beach which is a few miles from Port Canaveral. I placed the order a few days before we left home, and set the pickup time to 11:00 a.m. I ordered formula, a box of diapers, swim diapers, bottle brush, dish soap, baby food, and baby snacks. I also broug

Complete Guide to Disney's Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point

Disney's new Bahamian island destination, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is a pristine, secluded paradise reserved exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests. The cruise port is located on the island of Eleuthera (pronounced uh-loo-tr-uh) at it's southern tip, amidst a nature preserve called Lighthouse Point. Far from any towns, Lookout Cay feels like a tropical oasis that is separated from the outside world by mangrove forests. The landscaping is gorgeous with flowers like plumerias, and tall swaying palm trees. Whether you want to just kick back and relax or go for a thrilling banana boat ride, this port has something for everyone. There are family friendly areas as well as those reserved specifically for adults. Expert Tip: If you want a view of the island from your stateroom, be sure to book a starboard (right) side stateroom. Disney Magic docked at Lookout Cay After disembarking your Disney Cruise ship, you'll cross the pier to the island on foot. (It looks longer in

The Villas at the Disneyland Hotel Review

I love staying at the Disneyland Hotel so when I got the opportunity to stay at the new Villas at the Disneyland Hotel during opening weekend, I couldn’t pass it up. Because it was opening weekend, we were greeted in the entrance way of the lobby with balloons and many photo opportunities. When we arrived, there was a mural of the Haunted Mansion. I love how the seats in the main lobby were designed like the teacups in the parks. You can check in using the Disneyland app, drop your bags with bell services and head into the parks or use the amenities why you wait until your room is ready. When your room is ready, the resort will send you a text and you can use the Disneyland app on your mobile device to unlock the room. We dropped off our bags and went straight to the parks. We received a text around 1PM that our room was ready. In the new Discovery Tower (the Villas), you'll find that the lobby is very spacious with many places to sit while you read or wait for your family. Th
