1923 on the Disney Wish

Named for the year The Walt Disney Company was founded, 1923 celebrates the legendary animation studio that was founded in Southern California. 1923 is a vintage Disney fan's dream as its filled with over one thousand drawings and props from classic Disney animated films. The restaurant is split into two dining rooms, fittingly named Walt and Roy, after the two brothers behind the world's oldest-running animation studio.

Since the Walt Disney Company was founded in California, the menu at 1923 is inspired by the best cuisine found throughout the Golden State. 1923 features a diverse menu showcasing the region's unique blend of Asian, European and South American influences.

For our cruise on the Disney Wish, we were seated in the Walt Disney side of the restaurant.
The meal started with bread service of fig and olive bread with honey butter dip. I love a good honey butter!

For appetizers, we ordered the Burrata Mozzarella Cheese & Prosciutto di Parma and the Hyperion Four-Cheese Tri-Color Tortelloni. Both of these appetizers were a great start to the meal.
Burrata Mozzarella Cheese & Prosciutto di Parma
Crispy Cranberry and Sunflower Seed Phyllo, Charred Blood Orange
Hyperion Four-Cheese Tri-Color Tortelloni
Meyer Lemon, Artichoke, Sun-dried Tomato, Baby Spinach
Since this was a cruise and we could order as much food as we wanted, we opted to order a salad and soup in addition to our appetizers. (Hey, you gotta live it up on vacation, right?!) I ordered the Split Napa Baby Romaine Lettuce salad and my husband ordered the Roasted Roma Tomato Soup. The salad was enjoyable but nothing to write home about. I would order it again if I was feeling the need for something relatively healthy on my cruise.

Caesar Dressing, Heirloom Grape Tomatoes, Parmigiano-Reggiano, Ciabatta Garlic Croutons
My husband enjoyed his tomato soup but I did not. In total fairness, I'm not a fan of tomato soup unless I'm dunking a grilled cheese into it so I'm probably not the best one to judge this dish. This tomato soup tasted like a bowl of ketchup to me. And don't get me wrong, I love ketchup but I also don't want to eat it by the spoonful. If you enjoy tomato soup, this is probably a great dish but just wasn't my cup of tea.

Sourdough Purple Basil Crostini
For entrees, we ordered the Seared Verlasso Salmon Filet and the 1923 Peppered Filet Mignon. Both of these entrees were absolutely delicious! Out of all of the entrees we had on our cruise, these were my favorites. I would happily order both the salmon and the filet mignon again.

California Wild Honey Parsnip Puree, Orange Fennel Essence, Sautéed Black Garlic Rapini

Buttered Long Green Beans, Smoked Bacon, Crushed Fingerling Potato Hash,
Pink Pepper Café Au Lait
The Kids menu at 1923 is super cute with Oswald the Lucky Rabbit on the front and the kids plates feature Mickey in Steamboat Willie. My youngest was in quite a mood this evening and didn't want anything that was on the menu. Our servers were wonderful and were able to accommodate his request for Mac and Cheese. My oldest son went with the cheese pizza which was on the menu. The pizza wasn't the greatest but my son didn't seem to mind.

Desserts were another standout of this meal! We ordered the Churros Calientes, Atwater Fuji Apple Cheesecake and the Hollywood Hills Hot Chocolate Fudge Sundae. Everything was delicious but my favorite was the churros. It's hard to say no to a Disney churro! The desserts were a fantastic end to a truly wonderful meal.
Churros Calientes
Sugar Spice Churros, Dulce de Leche
Atwater Fuji Apple Cheesecake
Sweet Dough Shell, Caramelized Apples, Cinnamon Cheesecake, Rolled Oat Crumble
Hollywood Hills Hot Chocolate Fudge Sundae
Vanilla Ice Cream, Fudge Brownie Bites, Fresh Whipped Cream, Glazed Cherry
Out of the three rotational dining restaurants on the Disney Wish, 1923 was my absolute favorite! The food was delicious and I love all of the vintage Disney memorabilia. You'll definitely want to take some time to walk around the restaurant to check out all of the animation cells and props.

Cruising with a Baby: A Complete Guide

You took a baby on a cruise!? Yep, and I'd do it again knowing what I know now. So, say goodbye to months of research - Everything you need to know is here!! One of the biggest challenges of traveling with a baby is planning what you need to bring. I wanted to share what worked for us, and hopefully help others who are planning their cruise! Remember, babies can only cruise after their 6-month birthday on sailings from the U.S. If you are going transatlantic, or have more than three days out at sea, they must be 12 months old by the first day of your cruise. Pre-Cruise   We flew to the cruise port, and I couldn’t bring all the food and snacks I needed, so I placed an Instacart order for pick up near the port. I chose Publix in Cocoa Beach which is a few miles from Port Canaveral. I placed the order a few days before we left home, and set the pickup time to 11:00 a.m. I ordered formula, a box of diapers, swim diapers, bottle brush, dish soap, baby food, and baby snacks. I also broug

Complete Guide to Disney's Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point

Disney's new Bahamian island destination, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is a pristine, secluded paradise reserved exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests. The cruise port is located on the island of Eleuthera (pronounced uh-loo-tr-uh) at it's southern tip, amidst a nature preserve called Lighthouse Point. Far from any towns, Lookout Cay feels like a tropical oasis that is separated from the outside world by mangrove forests. The landscaping is gorgeous with flowers like plumerias, and tall swaying palm trees. Whether you want to just kick back and relax or go for a thrilling banana boat ride, this port has something for everyone. There are family friendly areas as well as those reserved specifically for adults. Expert Tip: If you want a view of the island from your stateroom, be sure to book a starboard (right) side stateroom. Disney Magic docked at Lookout Cay After disembarking your Disney Cruise ship, you'll cross the pier to the island on foot. (It looks longer in

The Villas at the Disneyland Hotel Review

I love staying at the Disneyland Hotel so when I got the opportunity to stay at the new Villas at the Disneyland Hotel during opening weekend, I couldn’t pass it up. Because it was opening weekend, we were greeted in the entrance way of the lobby with balloons and many photo opportunities. When we arrived, there was a mural of the Haunted Mansion. I love how the seats in the main lobby were designed like the teacups in the parks. You can check in using the Disneyland app, drop your bags with bell services and head into the parks or use the amenities why you wait until your room is ready. When your room is ready, the resort will send you a text and you can use the Disneyland app on your mobile device to unlock the room. We dropped off our bags and went straight to the parks. We received a text around 1PM that our room was ready. In the new Discovery Tower (the Villas), you'll find that the lobby is very spacious with many places to sit while you read or wait for your family. Th
