Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure has been a hit since it debuted. Tickets are a hot commodity and sell out before the first party of the season. The event runs on select nights in September and October with prices starting at $134 per person in 2023. Tickets include admission starting at 3pm (party begins at 6pm,) specialty entertainment, treats and your Photopass photos from the night.
There’s so much to see and do during the five hours the event runs, there’s no way to do it all so it is important to have a plan. The party really celebrates characters with four ways to see them.
1) Treat Trails are one of the most unique aspects of the party. They are trails that will take you to interact with the villains while also stocking up on candy and snacks. These are not meet and greets, but they are some of the best character interactions I’ve had. Ernesto De La Cruz singing Remember Me was incredible to see in person.
2) Traditional Character Meet and Greets are also available for the party, with the party-exclusive characters having multi-hour lines. Minnie, Daisy and Clarabelle as the Sanderson Sisters had a 2 hour line before the party even started when we attended, and Mickey from Kingdom Hearts also gets extremely popular. But there are rotating characters by the Carthay Circle fountain which would typically have shorter lines. We had no wait to grab a photo with Mater in his vampire costume over in Cars Land as well.
3) The Frightfully Fun Parade features some favorite villains and characters strutting their stuff. We were able to easily find a spot about 15 minutes before it started. The Headless Horseman kicks it off and there were some great floats and dancers to enjoy.
4) Mickey's Trick and Treat Show is geared towards kids but was honestly so cute. You get to see Mickey and friends in another set of Halloween costumes while they tell a "spooky" story, and you get a treat at the end! Most of the space is floor seating, but there are benches at the back for those who need it.
The other unique experience at this party is Villains Grove, which is a walk through light and sound display. This is really one of those things you need to experience in person to appreciate. If that isn't up your alley, there are also photo spots set up throughout the park to commemorate your night.
There are also just a few specialty food and beverages you can only obtain at the party, but there's more seasonal offerings to be found throughout the park during the day and party as well. The Worms Wort Glow cube is a great little souvenir and we really enjoyed the pizza Pym's offered up for the party.
