Top 5 Free Sea Day Activities on Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival Cruise Line ships offer many free activities for guests to enjoy during their vacation, especially on sea days. While cruising with my family, I check the app for fun, free activities we can do to stay busy together.

Here are some fun and free activities that we enjoy when cruising on Carnival:

1. Mini-golf

Available on all Carnival ships! We especially enjoy it at night! It can get windy up there, so go after main dining time while the ship is still moving slowly. The ship typically decreases speed during dinner time. Another great time to get in a game is right when you get onboard and the ship is still docked.

2. Get competitive

Check out which table games your ship offers. We have found giant chess, giant shuffleboard, foosball, and pool on the outdoor decks. We have played Battleship, Dominoes and shuffleboard indoors in the pub and the library. Challenge one another in a game of basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, or pickleball up on the sports deck. Games will vary by ship.

3. Explore the ship

We love to grab an ice cream cone (Carnival has self-serve ice cream available 24/7!) and just explore the entire ship. We find the doors out to the promenade deck, the bow, or walk along the lifeboat deck and look at the water. We like to take a peek at the gym, spa, and the shops along the promenade. We like to take in the scenery of the ocean, other ships passing by, and the sunset. It's nice to browse through the art gallery when it's open, or attend an art auction. Of course, there are plenty of shops in the promenade if you're looking for a souvenir or something special, too.

4. Hasbro Games

My kids love to participate in live group games like life-sized Guess Who?, Sorry!, and Trivial Pursuit. Speaking of games, we also love to participate in themed trivia. We have participated in Harry Potter, Marvel and Star Wars trivia. The cruise staff often dress the part and small prizes were won (aside from bragging rights!)

5. Cool off

Take a dip in the pool or go for a ride on one of the slides to cool off. While lines can be longer for the slides on sea days, they don't pick up until after lunch. If you hit the slides in the morning, the lines will usually be much shorter. Be sure to check the operating hours first! While we are dressed for slides, we usually swim and check out the splash park too. The pools can be very crowded at peak times, so plan accordingly. My kids favorite thing to do at night is swim and watch the Dive In Movie. Carnival has a movie screen on most ships right in front of the pool. You can check the movie schedule on the app schedule. Carnival also provides free popcorn, pizza, cookies and ice cream during the movies. They often have free blankets too! After you swim, finish the movie from the jacuzzi - the perfect ending to a day at sea!

Cruising with a Baby: A Complete Guide

You took a baby on a cruise!? Yep, and I'd do it again knowing what I know now. So, say goodbye to months of research - Everything you need to know is here!! One of the biggest challenges of traveling with a baby is planning what you need to bring. I wanted to share what worked for us, and hopefully help others who are planning their cruise! Remember, babies can only cruise after their 6-month birthday on sailings from the U.S. If you are going transatlantic, or have more than three days out at sea, they must be 12 months old by the first day of your cruise. Pre-Cruise   We flew to the cruise port, and I couldn’t bring all the food and snacks I needed, so I placed an Instacart order for pick up near the port. I chose Publix in Cocoa Beach which is a few miles from Port Canaveral. I placed the order a few days before we left home, and set the pickup time to 11:00 a.m. I ordered formula, a box of diapers, swim diapers, bottle brush, dish soap, baby food, and baby snacks. I also broug

The Villas at the Disneyland Hotel Review

I love staying at the Disneyland Hotel so when I got the opportunity to stay at the new Villas at the Disneyland Hotel during opening weekend, I couldn’t pass it up. Because it was opening weekend, we were greeted in the entrance way of the lobby with balloons and many photo opportunities. When we arrived, there was a mural of the Haunted Mansion. I love how the seats in the main lobby were designed like the teacups in the parks. You can check in using the Disneyland app, drop your bags with bell services and head into the parks or use the amenities why you wait until your room is ready. When your room is ready, the resort will send you a text and you can use the Disneyland app on your mobile device to unlock the room. We dropped off our bags and went straight to the parks. We received a text around 1PM that our room was ready. In the new Discovery Tower (the Villas), you'll find that the lobby is very spacious with many places to sit while you read or wait for your family. Th

Lightning Lane Step by Step Guide

We recently answered some  frequently asked questions  about the new Lightning Lane service at the Walt Disney World Resort. Now, let's take it even further and go through the step-by-step instructions on how to purchase and use the Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass service on your next Walt Disney World vacation.  Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass can only be purchased through the My Disney Experience app and, depending on where you are staying for your vacation, can be purchased 7 or 3 days in advance of your park visit.  How to Purchase and Select the Lightning Lane Multi Pass through the My Disney Experience App Step 1.  Open the My Disney Experience app and login if it's the first time you're using the app or if the app hasn't saved your login information from previous uses.  Step 2.  There are a few places where you can purchase the Lightning Lane Multi Pass and/or Single Pass. The easiest way to purchase is through t
