Makahiki Character Breakfast at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa

We had the pleasure of dining at Aulani's Makahiki breakfast and it was a delightful, delicious experience! Makahiki is a restaurant at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawai'i. The Aulani Resort is recognizably Disney as soon as you pull into the property. Its well-manicured gardens, water features, and stunning lobby look like a Deluxe Resort at Walt Disney World.  As off-site guests to Aulani, (we stayed in Waikiki, but that's another blog) I have some helpful tips for visiting the resort, whether it be for the restaurants, the beach, or both! Makahiki – The Bounty of the Islands is open daily and reservations can be made 30 days in advance. I made my reservation on the Aulani website. There were a few times to choose from. I chose the earliest available that day, which was 8:30 a.m., because we had jetlag from the trip. A friendly Cast Member called me a few days before the reservation to confirm it with me. You can, however, find earlier times on other d...

Throwback Thursday: Bon Voyage Breakfast

Once upon a time Disney’s newest character breakfast at Walt Disney World was the “Bon Voyage” Character breakfast at Trattoria al Forno at Disney’s Boardwalk.   You got not only a fabulous sit down meal, but you were able to meet and interact with a couple of Disney princesses, Ariel and Rapunzel, and also their rarely-seen mates, Eric and Flynn Ryder.   All four of these Disney characters are my oldest daughter’s favorites, so she was beside herself thinking that she could finally meet all of them at once when this debuted.   I was able to get my family a reservation so we could enjoy this meal and fulfill our princess dreams. When we first arrived at Trattoria, it was packed, so that was a good sign to me that this was going to be a great experience.   Once we were finally seated, our waitress greeted us, took our drink orders and told us how the characters would come by one at a time.   It wasn’t long before we had our first visitor, Rapunzel.   She wa...

Character Dining 101

Character dining at Walt Disney World is incredibly popular and for good reason. The characters make their way around the room and stop at each table to mingle with the guests. The whole family can take pictures with the characters, get an autograph or just chat it up with their favorite characters. It’s a great way to meet characters without having to stand in line and you get to enjoy a meal while you do it! Talk about an excellent use of multitasking! Below is a list of all of the character dining restaurants, their locations, type of food offered, which meals offer a character dining experience, and which characters you can expect to see at the restaurant. Please note that this list was accurate at the time of posting but character appearances are subject to change.
