Sailing the Disney Wish with a Toddler

The Disney Wish is a fantastic ship with plenty of activities for all ages, including toddlers. Here are some tips to make the most of your cruise with your little one: Before You Go Pack Smart : Bring essentials like diapers, wipes, and your child’s favorite snacks. Don’t forget swim diapers for the splash pads. Please note all snacks must be sealed in original packaging and fruit is not allowed to be brought onboard the ship. Our favorites are That's It Bars, Animal Crackers, and un-opened, commercially-packed applesauce pouches. Stroller : A lightweight, foldable stroller is handy for navigating the ship and ports of call. The smaller the better here, our Bugaboo Butterfly fits in the overhead compartments on airplanes, but couldn't get past the bed in the stateroom so we kept it folded in the closet while not out and about. Onboard Tips Nursery Services : Take advantage of the “It’s a Small World Nursery” for babysitting services. You can enjoy some adult time while your to...

Ports of Call: Princess Cays in the Bahamas

Princess Cays is a private island stop located on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. Owned by Princess Cruises, this 40-acre beach port is a popular stop for cruises from Princess, Carnival, and Holland America ships.  Princess Cays is a tender port, meaning passengers are ferried from the cruise ship to the island in smaller boats, and it takes 20 minutes each way. The Sea Breeze Grill, operated by cruise line staff, serves typical beach barbecue food. The menu included hot dogs, hamburgers, grilled chicken, fish, ribs,  various sides, fruit, and cookies. This complimentary BBQ lunch buffet is provided by the cruise line, but it's only available during a set time.  What to Do Here: Beach Day : Enjoy a beach day on the island's white-sand shores.  Soft sand and clear water on Princess Cays Snorkel : Bring your own gear for free snorkeling. The waters around Princess Cays have lots of marine life, including stingrays, flounder, trumpet fish, conch, and other trop...

Top 5 Free Sea Day Activities on Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival Cruise Line ships offer many free activities for guests to enjoy during their vacation, especially on sea days. While cruising with my family, I check the app for fun, free activities we can do to stay busy together. Here are some fun and free activities that we enjoy when cruising on Carnival: 1. Mini-golf Available on all Carnival ships! We especially enjoy it at night! It can get windy up there, so go after main dining time while the ship is still moving slowly. The ship typically decreases speed during dinner time. Another great time to get in a game is right when you get onboard and the ship is still docked. 2. Get competitive Check out which table games your ship offers. We have found giant chess, giant shuffleboard, foosball, and pool on the outdoor decks. We have played Battleship, Dominoes and shuffleboard indoors in the pub and the library. Challenge one another in a game of basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, or pickleball up on the sports deck. Games will vary by s...

Cruising with a Baby: A Complete Guide

You took a baby on a cruise!? Yep, and I'd do it again knowing what I know now. So, say goodbye to months of research - Everything you need to know is here!! One of the biggest challenges of traveling with a baby is planning what you need to bring. I wanted to share what worked for us, and hopefully help others who are planning their cruise! Remember, babies can only cruise after their 6-month birthday on sailings from the U.S. If you are going transatlantic, or have more than three days out at sea, they must be 12 months old by the first day of your cruise. Pre-Cruise   We flew to the cruise port, and I couldn’t bring all the food and snacks I needed, so I placed an Instacart order for pick up near the port. I chose Publix in Cocoa Beach which is a few miles from Port Canaveral. I placed the order a few days before we left home, and set the pickup time to 11:00 a.m. I ordered formula, a box of diapers, swim diapers, bottle brush, dish soap, baby food, and baby snacks. I also broug...

5 Misconceptions about Disney Cruise Line

There are a lot of reasons people THINK they wouldn't like a Disney Cruise. Cruising brings up a lot of questions, and there are a lot of misconceptions out there, too. Even for seasoned Disney Parks vets, a Disney Cruise can be intimidating for a first timer, and we want to assure you, we have your back! So let’s debunk some cruising myths. Here are 5 of them: Myth #1. I’ll Get Bored  Fear of boredom seems to be a big one for people who have never cruised before. Some people seem to think that all there is to do is swim and eat. While I have done a lot of both of those on cruises, there are so many other things to do, too! It’s far more likely that you’ll get off the ship thinking of all the things you didn’t have time to do then get off thinking you were bored. The onboard Disney Cruise Line app will show you a detailed schedule of events for the day. Aside from the obvious sunning and pool activities, you’ll find animation classes, miniature golf, first run movies, cooking class...
