How to Choose the Right Stateroom for your Family on Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line staterooms are among the first in the industry to be made specifically with families in mind but how do you choose the right stateroom for your family?  I'm glad you asked!  There are many things to consider before choosing your stateroom like how many people will be cruising with you and how much time you plan on spending in your room.  Here are some questions you should ask yourself that will help you determine which stateroom is right for you and your family. How many people will be joining you on the cruise?   If you are traveling with 3 to 4 guests, you won't have any trouble finding a stateroom that fits your needs.  You can choose from Inside Staterooms all the way up to the suites and have plenty of room for your family.  If you are traveling with a larger party, it may seem like there are less options but there are many options for you as well!  The largest stateroom on the Magic and Wonder sleeps up to 7 and the largest stateroom on the Dream and Fa

DCL - Rotational Dining Basics on the Disney Magic

One of the things that sets Disney Cruise Line apart from the competition is their unique "rotational dining" set up.  Your party, table mates, AND service team will actually rotate through three Main Dining Rooms (MDRs) throughout your cruise.  This way you get a change of scenery and a chance to experience multiple restaurants while on board!  This differs from traditional cruising where a ship would have one Main Dining Room for you to enjoy each night unless you booked specialty dining or headed to a buffet or quick service spot for the evening.  Those are both still options on a Disney Cruise, but it's exciting to see the new restaurant each night and then see how they pull together different themes later in the cruise. The five Disney ships in the fleet have slight variations on their Main Dining Rooms.  This post will cover the specifics for the Disney Magic.  You can expect one more casual, one more formal and one more "magical" dining experience on eac

Mediterranean Cruise Itinerary Overview

So you're thinking about taking a Mediterranean cruise with the Disney Cruise Line (DCL), but aren't really sure where to start?  This blog post will give you a brief overview of what to expect and what to look for and there will be other posts with more specific details on the ship, ports of call, and various activities for more details! First of all - the ship.  With DCL, they send the Disney Magic across the Atlantic for their European cruise itineraries.  The Magic sailed her maiden voyage in 1998 but underwent a wonderful dry dock a few years ago so it feels like new!  It's one of DCL's smaller ships, so you get a nice intimate feeling on board.  The cruise ship offers three main dining rooms, one adults only specialty restaurant, both adult and family pools, a theater and movie theater, a spa and fitness center and so much more! The Disney Magic as you approach from tendering into port Next up - the season.  Typically, the Disney Magic is in Mediterranean p

Gluten Free Palo Brunch Review

On a December 2022 cruise on the Disney Magic, I enjoyed brunch at Palo with a dear friend who happens to be gluten free. Here is everything she ate and her thoughts on each item. At the time of writing, Palo brunch is $45 per person for an all you care to enjoy, course based meal that can be ordered off a menu. There is a dress code for this adult only dining experience, but I noticed the clothing choices were more casual during brunch vs dinner. We went with the suggested order and started with a complimentary glass of champagne, bread service, and charcuterie boards. She chose the seafood based charcuterie, and her bread service was a flatbread with pesto. For those in the know, the gluten free rolls in the main dining rooms on Disney cruises are delicious, fluffy rolls that are at times better than the regular rolls. This pesto flatbread was really good and without being told they were gluten free, we would have been none the wiser. There were enough for me to indulge in a couple a

Top 5 Disney Cruise Activities for Adults

If you've ever brought up a Disney Cruise to those who aren't in the know, I bet you've heard the all too familiar phrase "Aren't there kids everywhere?!" So today I wanted to share with you my top five reasons why I love Disney Cruising WITHOUT kids!  I've personally taken three Disney Cruises and have my fourth one coming up, but none of these trips include kiddos.  People look at me like I'm a bit nuts when I tell them this, since they equate the cruise line with fun loving children everywhere.  (Don't get me wrong, DCL is absolutely fantastic for kids too!) But they truly have something for everyone.  All the photos in this post are from my recent cruise on the Disney Magic (Mediterranean itinerary) but you should be able to find something similar on any of the ships in Disney's fleet! 5. Lumiere's on the Disney Magic

Lumiere's on the Disney Magic is the upscale and elegant of the bunch when it comes to Main Dining Rooms.  As you'd expect being themed off a movie based in France, the menu is French inspired and this is where you will find some of the "fancier" food to give a try!  Lumiere's is located midship on Deck Three off the main atrium.  There are two entrances, the main entrance is off the atrium and the one from the hallway around the side is accessible and often used when there is an event or activity in the atrium.  Lumiere's is often also open for other meals throughout the day, and has a more standard menu when this is the case. Main entrance from the atrium While French food can be intimidating, Disney does a great job making the menu approachable and still a bit familiar while working in some French influence and flavors.  If you are still a little weary of escargot, one of the best things about a Disney Cruise is that if you don't like something, t

Animator's Palate on the Disney Magic

Animator's Palate is the only restaurant that is on all four of Disney's cruise ships, and it really does just give you that magical Disney feeling! There's a little something extra as your meal progresses here, so pay close attention to your surroundings as you dine. Animator's Palate is typically where character breakfasts will be held on cruises of 7 nights or longer, so you might spend a bit of time here! The restaurant is located Deck 4 Aft. I was looking forward to this meal because it has one of my absolutely favorite items on the menu; Black Truffles Pasta Purseittes! On this cruise, Animator's Palate was our second night and also Formal Night, so we were all dressed up to enjoy the magic that awaited. This is one of the best themed restaurants in my personal opinion, and I simply love it here! We started the meal with bread and butter and specialty cocktails of the evening. First up was our appetizer course. I was traveling wi
