Ears the News: February 14, 2020 Edition

Welcome to the latest edition of Ears the News Brought to you by our friends at  WDWMagic.com The water playground at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort will be closing for refurbishment early next week.    Photo courtesy of WDWMagic.com  The refurbishment is expected between February 10 and March 20, with a reopening on March 21 2020. The resort's other pools will remain open as normal, and there will be transportation to the nearby Polynesian Resort for those guests wishing to use a splash playground. Jaleo Restaurant Review

Jaleo is one of the newest restaurants at Disney Springs and has quickly become a favorite of many.  It is a tapas-focused restaurant from Chef José Andrés and is considered Signature Dining by Disney (2 table service credits on the Disney Dining Plan).  Since this is a tapas restaurant, the Disney Dining Plan can get a little confusing for the entrees and appetizers.  On the Disney Dining Plan, each diner can get two regular tapas OR one tapa that "serves two" OR one plated dish OR one plated pallea. If you are on the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan, you can select one of the options above, plus an additional tapa. First let's take in the restaurant's atmosphere and decor.  The building greets you with pops of red as you approach.  Once inside, there's a nice open feeling with a lounge area to the left and the main dining area to the right.  There are some interesting tables to be found, with one having a Foosball table underneath! Mickey's Pantry in the Marketplace at Disney Springs will close at the end of November 15, 2019 to make-way for an expansion of the Spice & Tea Exchange. Spice & Tea Exchange opened as a shop-within-a-shop at Mickey's Pantry back in 2010, and offers over 40 freshly made blends of tea, and a variety of spices, salts, rice and sugars. Kylo Ren will be making appearances in Star Wars Galaxy's Edge.Darth Vader is set to return to Star Wars Launch Bay with the opening of Star Wars Galaxy's Edge. Astro Orbiter in the Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland is now closed for a refurbishment.  The closure is expected to reopen to guests on August 15, 2019. Ears the News: March 15, 2019 Edition

Welcome to the latest edition of Ears the News Brought to you by our friends at WDWMagic.com The new "Captain Hook's Pirate Crew" at Disney's Beach Club Resort is the latest immersive experience for kids at Walt Disney World Resort. Taking place from 5pm to 8:30pm, Captain Hook will be lookin’ for a new band of adventurers to learn the pirate code and follow clues leading to hidden treasure. As part of Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew, these young buccaneers will comb through the resort and set sail on a pontoon boat around Crescent Lake including an escape room type experience. Once the treasure is unearthed, all join in a Pirate Feast that includes selections such as Cannon Meatballs with marinara or macaroni and “gold” sauce for entrees, along with a treasure chest treat or fruit for dessert.
