 Ears the News Brought to you by our friends at WDWMagic.com Disney's Animal Kingdom breeding programs welcomes a third giraffe birth at the park in the past year Disney's Animal Kingdom welcomed Masai giraffe calf born on June 10, 2021.  this is the third giraffe born at Disney's Animal Kingdom in the past year.  The calf weighed 183 pounds and stood six feet tall.  The calf is yet to be named.  Mom, Lily, is enjoying her new calf. The calf has a distinct butterfly marking on the right shoulder, heart-shaped spot on his coat, and a white-tipped speckled mane.  They will be spend time behind the scenes before joining the giraffe herd on the savanna in the next coming weeks. Giraffes are a vulnerable species in the wild.  Within the past 30 years, the population has declined over 30  percent. Hey there, Disney Friends! Ready for a tasty snack review? This one is a two-for-one since both of the items are at the same location, the Sunshine Tree Terrace in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom. We've got a beverage for you, as well as a snack!  First up, who doesn't LOVE Pixar's animated short "Lava"? We adore it in this house and it's still one of my son's favorite songs to fall asleep to. Of course, we HAD to try the "I Lava You" Float ! This colorful float starts with strawberry Fanta soda and is topped with a generous portion of orange-flavored Dole Whip. The swirl is then topped with a drizzle of passion fruit syrup and red popping candy. The whole thing looks like molten lava, (and it's especially clever how Disney even manages to make it hot out so that the lava begins melting as soon as you get it! 😉).  And it's not just pretty folks, it's pretty tasty too!  Ears the News Brought to you by our friends at WDWMagic.com Disney's Animal Kingdom welcomes a new Hartmann's Mountain zebra foal to the herd at Kilimanjaro Safaris On May 17, 2021, a male Hartmann's Mountain zebra foal was born to mom, Heidi.  Guests on the Kilminjaro Safari attraction go to see the birth as the mom gave birth standing up on the savanna.  Hartmann's mountain zebras are found in the Sub-Saharan Africa and are a vulnerable species because of habitat loss and hunting. Photo courtesy of WDWMagic.com Refurbished Monorail Orange returns to service at Walt Disney World After an interior and exterior refurbishment, the Monorail Orange returned to the WDW Monorail System.  On the exterior, you will see that the monorail was repainted.  Inside, the cabins have been refreshed and will include the orange coverings at each end of the cabin. Photo courtesy of WDWMagic.com Disney's Animal Kingdom mandrill birth is another success for Disney's breeding of endangered species Disney is celebrating the birth of a female baby mandrill.  First time mom, Hazel, gave birth to Ivy on April 10, 2021.This will make the four generations of mandrills from the same family which mirrors the social system of mandrills found in the wild.  You will see Hazel and Ivy in the Kilimanjaro Safari attraction at Animal Kingdom.
