50's Prime Time Café

Transport yourself back to the booming 50s right here in Walt Disney World! In Disney's Hollywood Studios, right off of Echo Lake, you can step back in time as you enter an old-school suburban home. Don’t let the word “café” throw you off, this is a full table-service restaurant that is styled to be like a family dinner at your mom’s house, back in the day. Yes, there’s a backstory to this place! When you first walk in, you’re greeted by a full bar that appears to be in a retro living/family room (this is the Tune-In Lounge). I’m talking funky wall décor, shiny linoleum, bright leather-clad furniture, the works. The tables you dine at are set up like an old kitchen, complete with CRT TVs showcasing popular black-and-white sitcom classics. As a young adult, I love this setting, as I never got to experience this style growing up myself.  It doesn’t stop at the looks, though. Our mother knows how to craft a hearty meal! Any fan of classic American comfort food will love 50's Pri...

10 Things Carnival Has Over Royal Caribbean

Both Carnival and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines are known for their exciting, family-friendly vacations, popularity, and affordability. I am a loyal Carnival passenger, but when Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day at CocoCay opened, I just had to check it out.  Carnival and Royal docked in Nassau Royal Caribbean is an amazing cruise line, with some of the best on-board sports activities and technology, but these are the differences that I only realized after cruising on both cruise lines last year. Carnival Sunrise in Brooklyn We sailed on a 4-Night Bahamian cruise on Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas in February 2020 (right before the shutdown). It departed from Port Canaveral with two stops at Perfect Day at CocoCay, and one stop in Nassau. RC's Navigator and Mariner of the Seas 10 reasons Carnival wins me over: 1. The Staterooms:  On the Mariner, I had a standard inside stateroom. There was a mirror on every wall, including behind the bed. The décor looked outdated with dar...

Top 3 Reasons to Dine at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop

Ice cream on a hot Disney day is a special kind of magic! As much as I love a good ol Mickey Bar or sundae from The Plaza, if I want to be extra about my ice cream experience, I head over to Beaches & Cream. (Non-dairy frozen dessert options are also offered at this restaurant.) Recently renovated and expanded, this adorable restaurant is located at Disney's Beach Club Resort. Listed below are three reasons you might want a reservation at this "soda shop vibe" restaurant.  You want to experience the kitchen sink: Ordering the Kitchen Sink really is an event. Check out the video below for what you can expect: I personally recommend the chocolate kitchen sink. As fun as the original is, I once had a fruit bite mixed with mint chocolate chip that was not quite a delight. Whatever combo you get with the chocolate, it should blend well. You want an insta worthy shake: There are several restaurants on WDW property that offer milkshakes topped with extra goodies, but none a...

Disney's BoardWalk Inn Review

From the eclectic décor to the panoramic views of Crescent Lake, the BoardWalk Inn gives you the sense that you have stepped back in time.  That time being circa 1920-1940’s Atlantic City.  The exterior of the hotel is reminiscent of the seaside buildings that could be found along the Boardwalk from that bygone era full of old time glitz and glamour.  Driving through the port couture at the front of the building, surrounded by finely manicured gardens you are met with enthusiastic porters that are there to welcome you home as they take your bags and guide you into the hotel lobby. Chandelier in the Lobby Once inside, the eclectic furnishings are precise replicas of what you would expect to find in the grandest hotels from that moment in time.  As you enter the lobby, look up to see the beautiful chandelier made of antique carousel horses that sits high above the lobby with the check in desk located to your left as well as a small sundry shop and the hallway that...
